About

The Blog
So I initially created this blog since I had a lot of stuff going on in my mind. I wanted a place where I just throw everything out for safe keeping and what not. Sometimes its like I find a bunch of cool stuff I want to talk about--but I have no where to put it-- now I do.

The content will be primarily technology related stuff as I am a computer engineering student and as a child I've always been interested in the technology that shapes our way of life. I didn't grow up with toys or action figures, but luckily my parents adopted computer technology back in the 90's and it has held my attention since. I may have occasional off-topic posts/short posts just to throw some thoughts out here and there.

Another reason I created this blog was that often when dealing with technology I seem to run into with quite a bit of issues and attempt to debug them on my own. If I fail to do so, I usually look online. More often than not (unluckily for me) the issues I deal with are somewhat unique or rare, and as a result I'm on my own to find the solutions. Sometimes I figure it out and post the solution here for people to see. Other times I am unable to figure it out--but I post my thought process in the off chance that another person dealing with the same issue might stumble upon this site and be able to provide their own input and experiences.

A Pier? And a 78? .GA?
So the original name of my blog was "Nerd-Mang-Cave". It was a bit of an inside joke between my friends and I. Instead of saying something along the lines of  "hows it going man?" we tack on a G at the end and it becomes "hows it going mang?" The blog was a nerd cave, or kind of like a man cave about technology. A sanctuary.

Overtime I felt that it was a bit too immature so I decided to rename it. I picked a Pier because when I see a Pier, I think of it as a perfect place to get inspiration, to be awestruck in ways indescribable by words. Its beautiful, and a relaxing spot. I love the water, but ironically I am awful at swimming.

78? I actually have no idea. I guess its just my favorite double digit number. Though, I think I like 87 as well. I don't really have any particular attachments to this number, but it just came to me when I named the blog.

.GA is a domain provided by Freenom. These guys provide free domain registrations for the CF, TK, GA, GQ and ML domains. They allow you to register a domain for free for up to twelve months. Then supposedly you can re-register it again for free when it expires.

I've actually read a couple of horror stories about people who had their domains stripped from them after their sites became large so I can't say whether I trust thos service yet. So far it does not seem too bad--though I did have a bit of down time the other day when all TK and GA domains were down for about two hours.

I might register with a cheap domain later on.
