So this happened a couple of times already, but it occurred in instances where I felt it could have been caused on accident by my own actions so I ignored it. However today when I was brushing my teeth, I heard two long beeps, the same beeps that my Chromebook makes when I start it and don't press CTRL+D (using 'unverified' OS). I walked back to my room...lo and behold, the Chromebook freaking turned itself on! The Chromebook was not plugged in, does not have any USB devices plugged in, and the lid was closed. It was sitting on a table near my bed... This event had occurred before several times, but I brushed it off. Now I know for sure--it really did turn itself on.
However, there is a 'feature' on the Chromebook where opening the lid on the Acer C7 turns on the Chromebook without pressing a button. I'm not sure how they implemented the feature, perhaps there's some sort of mechanical device in the hinges of the Chromebook and is probably faulty.. Or I could say that my Chromebook is being spied on by the NSA or even that a ghost is possessing my Chromebook.
Not really related to the Chromebook but I thought this was funny. |
